The Church of the Annunciation

Address
Church of the Annunciation, Washington Street , Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, BN2 9SR

Description
To mark its 150th Anniversary, the Church of the Annunciation in Washington Street opens its doors to host a festival of art, music, and drama throughout the year. Founded by Arthur Wagner in 1864 as a mission to the poor at the height of the Oxford Movement, the Church of the Annunciation became the battleground between extreme Protestant anti-ritualists and Catholic Revivalists in the mid-nineteenth century. Come and discover the story of the ‘little church on the hill’ presented in a new exhibition, and see the Pre-Raphaelite stained glass of Burne-Jones.
