Jackson architectural ornament
The Regency Town House and the Victoria and Albert Museum share a portion of the considerable Jackson archive, assembled by the ornamental firm George Jackson and Sons through the 19th and 20th centuries. The rest of the Jackson and Sons collection is still used by the Jackson plastering company, which is still in operation.
The Town House collection comprises sample boards of 'composition' ornament, reverse cut and positive hardwood and softwood blocks, and ornaments such as swags and trophies. The physical collection is complemented by a number of publications and documents relating to the history of the firm.
