Description
Built in 1766 as a glamourous Georgian Ballroom in the Old Steine, St Stephen’s Hall was the place to be seen for Brighton's fashionable crowd! The building later became the Chapel to the Royal Pavilion before being moved to Montpelier Place, where it opened as a church in 1851. Since 1984 the building has operated as a Day Centre for people who are street homeless in Brighton and Hove.
Commencing at the War Memorial, the 1.2mile trail uncovers the fascinating hidden history of the building, and explores the development and growth of the town from small fishing settlement in the 1700’s to the fashionable seaside resort that it is today. The trail will finish at St Stephen’s Hall where you will be invited to explore the building.
